Service boiler system
Why it matters
Regular service maintains boiler efficiency, tests safety relief valves, and catches leaks or pump failures before you lose heat in the middle of winter.
Stop forgetting to do this.
Hearth generates a personalized maintenance schedule so you never miss another service boiler system.
How to do it
- 1
Schedule a licensed HVAC technician familiar with boiler systems (different skill set than forced-air HVAC).
- 2
Have them flush the system if the water looks rusty or has not been flushed in 3+ years.
- 3
Check operating pressure (typically 12–15 psi cold) and verify the expansion tank pre-charge.
- 4
Test the pressure relief valve by lifting the lever briefly.
- 5
Inspect the burner, heat exchanger, and flue for soot, scale, or corrosion.
- 6
Verify each circulator pump operates and listen for bearing noise.
- 7
Bleed air from radiators or baseboards if you have any cold zones.
