Check weatherstripping
Why it matters
Worn weatherstripping allows conditioned air to escape and outside air to enter, raising your heating and cooling bills by up to 15% and creating uncomfortable drafts.
Stop forgetting to do this.
Hearth generates a personalized maintenance schedule so you never miss another check weatherstripping.
How to do it
- 1
Close a door or window on a piece of paper to test the seal.
- 2
If the paper pulls out easily, the weatherstripping is worn and needs replacement.
- 3
Peel off old weatherstripping and clean the surface with rubbing alcohol.
- 4
Apply new adhesive-backed foam or V-strip seals along the door or window frame.
