Carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless — you won't know it's there without a working detector. CO poisoning causes thousands of hospitalizations and hundreds of deaths annually.

How to do it

    Hold the test button for 5–10 seconds.

    The alarm should sound.

    If the chirp is weak or absent, replace the battery.

    Note: CO detectors also expire — check the label for replacement date (usually 5–7 years).
