CSST gas line bonding inspection
Why it matters
Unbonded CSST gas lines (yellow corrugated tubing) are a documented lightning-strike fire hazard. A direct or nearby lightning strike can arc through the line, rupturing it and causing a gas explosion.
Stop forgetting to do this.

How to do it
- 1
Locate visible CSST (yellow corrugated) gas lines in your home, typically in basement or utility closet.
- 2
Look for a green ground wire or copper bonding strap connected to the CSST tubing.
- 3
Trace the bonding strap to see where it connects (should go to main electrical panel or water main).
- 4
If no bonding is present, contact a licensed electrician for inspection and bonding retrofit.
- 5
Electrician will install a proper bonding strap (typically 6 AWG copper) to main ground.
- 6
Request proof of grounding continuity and keep documentation for home records.
