Clean dryer vent duct
Why it matters
The dryer vent duct is the #1 cause of dryer fires. Lint bypasses the trap and accumulates in the duct over months. When enough builds up near the hot exhaust — it ignites. An annual cleaning is the single most important laundry maintenance task.
Stop forgetting to do this.
HomeOS generates a personalized maintenance schedule so you never miss another clean dryer vent duct.
How to do it
- 1
Disconnect the flexible duct from the dryer.
- 2
Use a dryer vent brush kit to clean from the dryer side (20–30 strokes).
- 3
Go outside and clean from the exterior vent flap as well.
- 4
Reconnect the duct securely.
- 5
Run the dryer briefly and confirm air flows strongly at the exterior vent.
