Small gas leaks at flexible connectors or shutoff valves are odorless until they reach a detectable concentration. An annual soapy water test catches slow leaks before they become dangerous.

How to do it

Mix dish soap with water in a spray bottle.

Turn off all burners and pull the range away from the wall.
- 3
Spray the soapy solution on all gas connections — the flexible connector and shutoff valve.

If you see bubbling, turn off the gas shutoff and call your gas utility immediately.

Do not use the range until the leak is repaired.
