Start up and inspect irrigation system

Difficulty: moderateTime: 60 mins

Why it matters

Winter settling and freeze damage often break spray heads or knock them out of alignment. An undetected broken head wastes hundreds of gallons and creates muddy patches or brown spots.

Stop forgetting to do this.

HomeOS generates a personalized maintenance schedule so you never miss another start up and inspect irrigation system.

How to do it

  • 1

Turn on the main irrigation shutoff slowly to avoid water hammer.

  • 2

Run each zone manually from the controller.

  • 3

Walk the yard and watch each head — look for broken heads, poor coverage, or heads spraying pavement.

  • 4

Adjust heads by hand or with a screwdriver.

  • 5

    Replace any broken heads.
