Test and adjust pressure reducing valve
Why it matters
PRVs creep upward over time. Pressure above 80 psi destroys fixtures, bursts hoses, and shortens appliance lifespan.
Stop forgetting to do this.
Hearth generates a personalized maintenance schedule so you never miss another test and adjust pressure reducing valve.
How to do it
- 1
Locate the pressure reducing valve near the water meter inlet.
- 2
Attach a pressure gauge to the nearest outdoor hose bib.
- 3
Read the inlet pressure (should be under 80 psi).
- 4
If above 80 psi, use an adjusting screw or wrench on the PRV.
- 5
Turn clockwise to increase pressure, counterclockwise to decrease.
- 6
Retest gauge and confirm pressure holds steady below 80 psi.
