How to do it

Turn off the recirculation pump breaker.

Close isolation valves on both sides of the pump.

Flush any air from the discharge line.
- 4
Turn pump back on and listen for grinding or squealing.

Feel if water is flowing backward through the check valve.
- 6
If cross-over or bearing noise is present, call a plumber for replacement.
