Test Walk-In Tub Door Seal & Pump
Why it matters
Failed door seals allow slow water leaks into subfloor (causing $2000–5000+ rot damage). Pump failures leave water undrainable in the tub. Annual testing catches failures before they become catastrophic.
Stop forgetting to do this.

How to do it
- 1
Ensure the tub is empty and dry; close the door and inspect the rubber gasket around the perimeter.
- 2
Look for cracks, hardened areas, or visible gaps; press on the gasket—it should be flexible, not brittle.
- 3
Fill the tub to 6 inches of water; close the door and observe from outside for 5 minutes.
- 4
If water is seeping from the door, the gasket has failed and requires replacement ($200–400 + labor).
- 5
Open the drain valve and allow the tub to empty; confirm water drains within 2–3 minutes.
- 6
If draining is slow (>5 minutes), inspect the drain hose for kinks or blockages; clear if needed.
